Things I'm loving lately ~ Fall 2015

Last week there was a Fall Favorites Blog Hop going on in blog land.

I thought I'd join in on the fun....

My love for the different seasons goes in this order: Summer, then Spring, then Fall and then Winter.

Even though Fall comes in 3rd, there are still so many beautiful things about Fall that I love.
Here are just a few "Fall inspired things" that I'm currently loving!

No 1- Furniture that I’m loving:

Maybe it's because I have my dining room on the brain that this is the piece of furniture that I'm loving.  Doesn't leather just scream fall?
I would want it in the weathered oak drifted finish as pictured below.

And in the chestnut leather finish.

They're currently on sale for $529 each!  They're on my Christmas wish list for sure!  ;)
Pretty Pleeeeeaaaasssseee Honey!!!

No 2- Shoes that I’m loving:

Can't have a favorites fall post without including some boots!!!  Love me some boots.  I love that these are stylish yet practical.  I NEED these!

No 3- Things that I don’t need but am loving:

Plush Pumpkins

I'm loving these gorgeous velvet pumpkins and acorns!  I'm seeing them everywhere!  Hobby Lobby, Michael's and Home Goods are just a few stores that are currently carrying them.  I want them all!  But of course there are only so many pumpkins you can have before you start looking like a hoarder!  Right?!

No 4- Pillows that I’m loving:

Pillow Covers

No 5- Wreaths that I’m loving:

Lemon Leaf Wreath

No 6- Books I'm loving:

One of my favorite things to do on a fall afternoon is curl up next to a crackling fire with a good book.  If you read my blog then you know that I'm hosting a group at my home all based on the book Simply Tuesday by Emily P. Freeman.  I LOVE THIS BOOK!  I highly recommend it!  If you're looking for a Christmas gift idea for a lady in your life, this is it! You can read more about the book from this post here.

No 7-  Accessories:

Infinity Scarf
These are both from Forever 21.  Scarves are one of my favorite fall items and I especially love a cable knit infinity scarf!  We haven't experienced the cooler temps much yet here in California but when we do, a scarf is usually a staple item in my wardrobe!

No 8- Wall Things

 Marquee Arrow
I love arrows and this one in particular can go well with fall décor.  The wood, metal and lights are delicious!  I want it!

And those are my current Fall Favorites....
Here are the links to the other blogs that participated in the Fall Favorites Blog Hop.
Enjoy!

Overwhelmed by Big Daddy Weave

I woke up sad this morning...

Not like in a state of depression sad, just melancholy.

Do you ever feel like that?
Like you miss your mom kind of sad. (Mine passed away in 2009)
Like it would be nice to sit with her and vent and cry on her shoulder and she would listen and make it all better, like moms are supposed to do.

But I trudged through it...
I got dressed and showed up to work at 6:30 in the morning like I'm supposed to.

I smiled and said hello to my coworkers.
They don't know that I'm sad and I'll never tell....

I grabbed a cup of coffee, read a few blogs and then started my work day.

I opened all my programs on the computer that I use throughout the day, turned on Pandora and put my headset on.  My usual Pandora setting is shuffle.  Within that Shuffle I have stations like Meghan Trainor Radio, Sam Hunt Radio, Today's Country Radio, Kirk Franklin Radio, Christian Contemporary, Tye Tribbett and Jesus Culture to name a few.

While I'm listening and plugging numbers for work on multiple spreadsheets, I'm praying.

I'm asking God to remind me of all my many blessings and to get me outside of myself and focus on Him.  I'm asking this because I know I'm stuck in a "poor me" kind of state.  It doesn't happen often, but when it does I know I need to turn my eyes to Jesus.

Several hours have passed and I'm still feeling sad.

Then Pandora plays Overwhelmed by Bid Daddy Weave.

The tears start streaming down my face,
not because I'm sad but because I'm being reminded of His grandeur.

I hear the sound of Your Voice
All at once it’s a gentle and thundering noise oh God
All that You are is so overwhelming

He created the universe yet he knows my name.  I'm overwhelmed.

I delight myself in You
Captivated by Your beauty
I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by You

God, I run into Your arms
Unashamed because of mercy
I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by You

I ran into his arms right then and there.  Sitting at my desk at work...

and then it happened
I felt grateful for his mercy
and captivated by Him
I delighted in his presence
and felt overwhelmed...

I know the power of Your Cross
Forgiven and free forever You’ll be my God

All that You’ve done is so overwhelming
I delight myself in You
In the Glory of Your Presence
I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by You

You are Beautiful, You are Beautiful
Oh God, there is no one more Beautiful
You are Beautiful, God you are the most Beautiful

You are Wonderful, You are Wonderful
Oh God, there is no one more Wonderful
You are Wonderful, God You are the most Wonderful

You are Glorious, You are Glorious
Oh God, there is no one more Glorious
You are Glorious, God you are the most Glorious

And just like that I'm no longer sad.
My problems didn't go away, I just gave them to God.
He loves me enough to handle them.

How blessed am I?

Not sure if you woke up sad....
but just wanted you to know that God loves you
no strings attached.

I pray that it blesses you as much as it did me.

Have a blessed day.

Friday Faves ~ 10/23/15

Good Morning!!

We made it!!!
It's FRIDAY!
Thank you Lord!

I've had a very productive week and can't wait to start sharing some projects with you here on the blog soon....
Amidst all the painting and decorating and rearranging...
my daughter and I have found the time to squeeze in a Gossip Girl Netflix marathon.

At first I was a little taken aback by how inappropriate that show can be....
However, there are some beautiful outfits, amazing hairstyles, beautiful landscapes (the girls just got back from a summer in Paris!), gorgeous people and insanely styled apartments to focus on!  I'm seriously in love with Rufus' apartment.  The story line is a little bit "young!" but I am enjoying this QT with my baby girl!

The Happy Dance!!

Good morning!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I sure did!  :)

Thank you for all your input regarding the unit for my dining room.
If you missed the post you can check it out here.

After reading all the comments, Harbor View was the clear winner.
I was prepared to order it but my friend sent me a text message and asked if I had checked Craigslist?  If you've been following me on this blog then you know that I love Craigslist and check it almost daily!  I don't usually check it on the weekends though.  However, I decided to give it one last glance before I went ahead and ordered Harbor View.

And there on Craigslist it was....
my little piece of heaven.

It was as if the clouds parted, the sun came out and the angels began to sing

Ha le lu ya!

Ha le lu ya!

Then my heart sank a little when I read it was located in Campbell.
That's over an hour away!!!
How am I going to convince my husband to drive that far to pick it up?

So before I got myself all worked up on the logistics I measured my space and made sure it would fit and yes it was almost a perfect fit.

Then I messaged the seller to see if it was still available and yes it was still available.
Then I asked for the measurements of the individual pieces to see what I would need to get it home.

Turns out I would need 2 trucks or a U-Haul.

Thank goodness I have a wonderful brother in law that agreed to do me the favor and drive his truck on a Sunday afternoon to Timbuktu and back.  I'm sure it helped that the Raiders weren't playing on Sunday!  Thank you Steve!

The husband was very skeptical but also agreed to join me on the adventure.
There may or may not have been some bribery involved in that agreement!  ;)

So we drove to Campbell and during the drive there my husband kept reminding me that if I didn't like it that it was OK to say no.  I didn't have to feel obligated in any way.
Yes, I know honey...
We talked about having a little sign that we would give each other if we didn't like it.
OK, honey...

One hour and ten minutes later we arrive in Campbell.

The guy greets us in his garage.  He's wearing his 49er gear and is rushing to talk to us because we've arrived during the 4th quarter of the 49er game.  :)

He tells us a little bit about the unit and all along I have heart eyes!
Not for him obviously but for that beautiful built in unit that has been taken apart and is in 3 different pieces in his garage.  It was so well built and looked brand new and was almost exactly what I had envisioned for my dining room.  I didn't need to say no, I didn't need to look for a sign from my husband because we both knew!

And get this friends....
it was $50!!!

No that's not a typo, I didn't forget a zero.
It cost me $50!!!

Frank and Steve loaded up both trucks and all the pieces fit perfectly.  We tried to hurry because we knew the 49er game was about to end and the traffic was going to get crazy!

We made it home and despite the dark clouds in the sky, not a drop of rain fell.
Thank you Lord!

Ladies and gentlemen....
drum roll please....

And here it is after I threw a few things on the shelves.

It's not done.
My plan is to add bead board to the back panels like Harbor View has.

I want to add crown molding to the top of it, paint it all white and add hardware.

I can't wait to get it all done and show you the "after!"

For now, every time I walk by my dining room and see it, I do the happy dance.

Have a blessed day!
xoxo

Friday Faves ~ Halloween Edition

Halloween!
To decorate or not to decorate?

That is the question!

So I grew up in a very strict Christian home and we didn't celebrate Halloween.
I was told that was not a day for Christians.

As an adult with my own home I had to decide what Halloween meant to me.
I decided that God still allows the sun to come up on October 31st and therefor it is a day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Didn't mean to get all "churchy" on you...
That being said, Halloween is a day that evil is practiced and more so than other days I'm told.

So what I've decided for my children and for my home is that we can dress up and we can decorate as long as it is not with scary or evil things.

I do allow skulls & skeletons because after all they are part of our human anatomy.
I do allow spiders, bats, birds, cats and webs because I believe they are part of creation.
Pumpkins are of course delightful and are in my home as well as fun Halloween signs.

What I don't have in my home during Halloween or anytime for that matter are
witches
potions and poisons
devils or evil characters

These are just my opinions and convictions and I don't impose them on anyone.
I'm here to love and not judge!  :)

So without further ado...
Today's favorite things are Halloween inspired.
