Friday Faves ~ 11/13/15

Happy Friday!!!!!

We made it!!  Yes!
I was off on Wednesday for Veterans day so it made this week shorter than usual which was really nice!

Today's favorites are a theme again!
I'm really enjoying "themed Friday favorites" and I hope you are too.

OK, so I LOVE Christmas!  It's absolutely, 100% my favorite holiday.

I love the sights the sounds and the smells!

All of it!

I even LOVE the shopping!  Nobody has to twist my arm to go shopping. I'll find any excuse to shop!

Christmas explodes inside of my home but the outside is a little bit of
womp
womp
 womp!

I am on a mission to change all of that this year!

I'm going to start decorating the outside for Christmas before I start decorating the inside.

And that is why I am sharing my outdoor Christmas decoration inspiration with you today.

Thanks for stopping by! I know I'm setting the bar high for my front porch reveal.

I'll just tell you now it will be much simpler and on a much smaller scale than any of these!  :)

I hope you have been inspired.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Painted Folding Table with Vaseline resist

Good morning!!
I hope you had a wonderful Veteran's day yesterday. I'm grateful for this country I get to live in and for all the freedoms that so many brave men and women have fought for.

I had the day off so I spent most of it running around with my kids but I did manage to squeeze in a little time to finish this folding table I've been working on.

I had never tried the Vaseline resist technique and thought this little folding table would be the perfect project to try it on.

Here's the "before."

I found this little guy at a local co op.  The price was good and I had been looking for a little side table to sit next to the bench on my porch.  I also loved that it folds up for easy storage.

If you're not familiar with the Vaseline technique, it's where you paint your piece in one color
In this case I chose red...

And then you apply Vaseline to a few areas where you want the red to come through after you've painted the piece in a different color.

The spots where you've applied the Vaseline resist the next coat of paint.  After you're done painting your piece in it's final color and once it's dry you then lightly sand and the red will come through wherever you applied the Vaseline.

I love how it turned out and would definitely try this technique again!

Here it is all pretty and put together just ready for Fall!

Have you ever tried the Vaseline technique?  If so, what were your thoughts?

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a blessed day.

xoxo

Daddy isn't praying anymore

Happy Monday!!

I'm a big country music fan but I missed the CMA's last week.
What I didn't miss is this epic performance by Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton.

Wow!

The media is saying it's the best performance EVER on the CMA's!
I'm not sure about all of that...but I LOVED it!

Here's the link if you missed it!

I had never heard of Chris Stapleton before this performance so that prompted me to look into his music a little more.

He's known more for his songwriting than for his music but I'm sure that's all about to change.
He recently released his debut album Traveler.

I listened to a few of his songs on YouTube and then just had to buy the whole album.
I love every single song. The album won album of the year on the CMA's last week.

There is one that just stopped me in my tracks while I was listening to the record and that is Daddy isn't praying anymore.

I was sad while I was listening to it wondering what could make a dad stop praying and then when Chris sang that final verse the tears started streaming down my face.

I listened to that song over and over and just let the words soak in.

Here's the You Tube Link if you'd like to listen to it.

I'm a praying mom.
My mom was a praying mom.
My dad is a praying dad.
My grandmother was a praying mom.
My grandfather was a praying dad.
The list goes on and on...

Don't stop praying.

I so believe that God hears and answers prayers.
I'm grateful for the people that have prayed for me throughout my life.

Have a blessed day!

Friday Faves ~ 11/6/15

Happy Friday!!!

I've been sort of MIA this week...
I put all the Halloween décor away and was happy to check that off my list!
I've been painting a little fold up table I'll be sharing next week.
I have also been making lists and checking them twice :)

I'm getting ready for CHRISTMAS!!!

Like I mentioned in Monday's post (here) I am not hosting Thanksgiving this year so I can start decorating a little earlier than usual.

Because I have Christmas on the brain, today's favorites are Christmas Wreaths.

I hope you are just as inspired as I was when I stumbled across these!

Enjoy!

This first one shouldn't surprise anyone.  I love the nature-inspired simplicity of this wreath against that gorgeous (insert heart eyes) blue mirror!  LOVE!

I've actually made similar wreaths to these pictured below.  They aren't hard to make but are a little time consuming.  And they take more ornaments/balls than you would initially think!

You can't ever go wrong with peacock feathers!

This is sure to be a big hit with the kiddos!  I've seen all different variations of Christmas wreaths using a doll or stuffed animal.  Super cute!

I love everything about this one.
A simple wreath in front of that gorgeous vintage looking chalkboard.
Might have to replicate this one in my own home...

For all the Santa lovers...a very clever wreath!

This is playful yet elegant.

My daughter learned how to make this paper wreath in elementary school.  Since then she's made several for friends and family.  I love that this one was made with music paper.

And these are for when you want to think outside the box.  Who says a wreath has to be round!

I love when a wreath is used to spell Joy!  Does the snow come with this one?  :)
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...guess I'll just keep dreaming!

Thanks for stopping by!!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ours will be filled with a Pop Warner playoff football game, a cheer showcase and a cheer competition!  Whew!  I'm tired just thinking about it!

Michaels Makers Annual Dream Tree Challenge

Good Monday morning!!

Hope you had a wonderful Halloween weekend.

Ours was lovely.  :)
We had a day of Pop Warner football and then the kids got into their costumes, I dropped one off to hang out with her friends and the other stayed in our neighborhood trick or treating with his friends.

Our neighbors came over and we sat in our garage and passed out candy.  I enjoyed seeing all the neighborhood kids in their costumes and hanging out with our friends.
On Sunday I loved waking up to an extra hour!  Thank you Daylight Saving...I love you in the Fall but not so much in the Spring!

To be honest though I'm ready to shift gears.
It rained all night last night and is still raining today in my neck of the woods and it feels like it's natures way of getting me ready for the next season.
It's time to put the black and orange away and get ready for....
CHRISTMAS!

Some of you probably aren't ready to make the switch and I get it....
but I, on the other hand, am so excited to start decorating for Christmas.

Usually I don't start until after Thanksgiving weekend but we aren't hosting Thanksgiving this year so I can start decorating early!
Insert happy dance!!

These pictures that you're seeing are all from the Michael's Makers annual dream tree challenge.  I haven't decided which direction I'm going this year with my Christmas decorations but I'm feeling inspired by all the Christmas beauty around me.

Here's the link to see all of the trees posted in their entirety.
Hope this gives you the inspiration needed to get in the Christmas spirit!

Have a blessed day!
