Christmas Home Tour 2015

It's Christmas week!!!!!!!

My absolute favorite week of the year!

It feels like I blinked and now it's Christmas!

I really did try to
s l o w down,
but it still feels like the month has flown by!

For those of you that are my friends on Facebook, you know that I wasn't sure if I was going to get my home tour on the blog and I was OK if I didn't.

Then on Sunday my pastor talked a little bit about comparison in his message.

How we have to be so careful not to get caught up in the comparison game.

He mentioned that he hates going into model homes because what he sees in them isn't real life.

"Why don't they show a dirty pot of spaghetti on the stove or a basket full of laundry in the living room?  Then I could picture myself living there!" ~Pastor Shaun Nepstad

I hesitated in sharing my home and that was one of the reasons why...

comparison.

Are other bloggers going to laugh at my home?

Are readers going to feel like I'm showing off?

It's just another Christmas tree...nothing is new or different than all the other blogs out there.

And worse of all, will people feel inadequate or like they can't relate?

And then I remembered my reason for this blog in the first place.

It's not to show off or to be pretentious.

It's to document, encourage, inspire and be REAL!

Unlike my pastor, I LOVE to walk through model homes.

I love to look at perfection.  Not all the designs and decor decisions are to my liking but I can find beauty in them.  Most of the time, I leave a model home feeling inspired.

I understand that my red and aqua Christmas decorations aren't for everyone.

I get it.

Here's what I do know...

I love Christmas.

I'm so grateful that Jesus is the reason for the season.

When I'm sitting on the couch with my favorite people
with the rain gently falling outside

in a warm house

peanut butter chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven

the soft glow of the lights from the tree catches my eye
I look down at all the beautifully wrapped presents under the tree

and I'm reminded of Gods love

and his many blessings

and I feel so happy.

On Christmas day my home will be filled with some of my favorite people.

I'll get to hug a few necks.
And because it's my husband's family tradition, we'll eat tamales.
We'll watch football.

We'll play games.

We'll laugh.

We'll take a ton of pictures - that's my tradition! :)

We'll open presents...one person at a time.

There will be a big paper mess...

And my heart will be full
and my soul will be happy.

And then we'll check off Christmas 2015 on the calendar.

Because that's what we do with this wonderful beautiful thing we call life!
 Merry Christmas
from my home to yours
Delilah

  4. When Pastor Shaun mentioned comparison and model homes, I immediately thought of yours. It's beautiful and I find myself inspired by your creativity. Ok, so there's a part of me that hopes that, like me, you may have a pile of laundry and some clutter upstairs away from prying eyes. Lol 😂 We all have gifts and decorating is definitely one of yours. Your home is stunning Delilah! Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas.
