Transformation Tuesday ~ Beachwood White Dresser

My son is really into skateboarding.  One of our favorite things to do together is he'll scout out a nearby skate park, ask me to take him and a friend to it and then I'll shop the nearby antique and thrift stores.  After a couple of hours of him skating and me shopping we'll meet up for lunch and spend some QT!  It's just a pretty spectacular win-win for the both of us!  :)

On one of these recent adventures I found this dresser.

Hope is Here Tour and Servanthood

Last night my church hosted a concert for the bands Zoe Worship & Mosaic MSC.  Chad Veach also spoke at the end.  It was pretty amazing.  The worship was so good.  I loved seeing these teens and young adults so pumped up and fired up for God.  It was inspiring.  And Chad's message!  Wow!  So good!

And as good as all of that was, I walked away from last night's event with my bucket so spiritually full but not from the music or preaching but from the display of servanthood I witnessed.

Just a little background.... I wasn't going to go to the concert.  I had never heard of Mosaic or even Chad Veach!  Apparently I've been living under a rock!!  However, I received an email asking me to serve on the church's green room team for the event and I quickly agreed.  Why not serve and then get to sit in?  Kind of a no brainer!

Btw... here's a link to the tour if you're interested.  I recommend it!  Hope is Here Tour

So, my church has a pretty amazing dream team.  The dream team is made up of different members of our church.  They serve in all different areas of the church.  Anywhere from security, kids zone, parking lot, green room, sound, etc...
But because I was serving in the green room that is what I'm going to talk about today.

What I witnessed last night was a beautiful display of servanthood.

Friday Favorites ~ Crushing on Navy

I love blue but tend to gravitate towards aqua and lighter shades of blue but lately I've been crushing on Navy blue.

It just feels so classic and clean.  Not sure why Navy feels "clean" to me!  lol

Beautiful Sideboard

I am extremely blessed to have friends that will call or text me with leads to cheap or free furniture.  In the past I would take the piece when it was a good deal without really taking the time to scrutinize it to see if it was really something I'd want taking up precious real estate in my garage.

Not anymore.

Now, I'll ask to see pictures and have even walked away from a piece or two if it didn't have good bones or if it needed a lot of work.  Why?  Because there really isn't a shortage of free or cheap furniture and I'd rather get a piece I really like than something I'm taking just because it's free or worse, because I feel obligated.

The Mid Century Dresser

Hi Blog friends!!!

I know, I know I've been MIA!  It's SUMMER!!!  ...and well, I don't seem to have a lot of time for blogging.  I LOVE SUMMER!  lol

I have managed to paint a few pieces in between a few vacays and day trips.

Here's the one I'm sharing today.

The Farmhouse Half Moon Table

I found this piece on a selling site.  It was priced at $20.  I love these half moon tables and they usually sell pretty quickly in my booth.

When Your Mom Is in Heaven on Mother's Day

My mom passed away in 2009.  My first Mother's Day without her was extremely painful.  As the days crept up to Mother's Day that year, I anticipated it with great fear.

The Leaf Dresser

So this little guy was a curbside pick up.
It was FREE but boy oh boy was it in horrible shape!

In fact when I brought it home my husband was really upset and said I need to be pickier with the things I'm picking up.  It had a hole on top of it...no lie!  It was dark when I picked it up in my defense...

I secretly agreed with him but didn't let him see me sweat!

Instead I stood up nice and tall and told him I had big plans for this piece and you just wait till I'm done....

Light Washed Denim Cabinet

I love this little record cabinet.  I saw it listed and just had to snatch it up.
I love the wood detailing.

The other night my daughter and I spent some time at our local Barnes and Noble browsing through several books.  I came across this photo in a book and I was inspired.

Part two of my Love Language

Hello friends!

This post is the update to this post.

So we didn't get the china cabinet but it wasn't because of my husband's unwillingness to go get it with me....  so he isn't the bad guy in this story!  lol

My Love Language

My love language is Acts of Service...

If you've never heard about the 5 love languages you can learn more about them here.

I read this book probably 10 years ago and learned so much, not only about myself, but also about the relationships around me.
I strongly recommend it if you haven't read it...

Anyway, this post isn't about promoting the book it's about sharing the news.

The news that...
I'm about to burst with excitement.

Why?

Pretty in Pink Dresser

Every once in a while I come across a piece of furniture that I love.  A piece that only lasts a couple of days in my garage because I'm so excited to get my hands on it.

This is one of those pieces.  I just love all of the lines and details this little dresser has.  She was in really bad shape though and it wasn't easy transforming her.

10 Things You May Not Know About Me

I consider myself an open book so these aren't earth shattering but I thought it would be fun to share!

1.    I almost NEVER pay full price for anything!  I am a HUGE bargain shopper.  I LOVE Craigslist and most of the furniture in my home was purchased second hand or was given to me.

Well, that isn't TRUE about every piece of furniture in my home....
I had a garage sale and sold a sectional and some other furniture and paid cash for the couches in my family room a few years ago.  I did pay full price for them and bought them brand new but I shopped around for months before purchasing them.

Farmhouse Buffet

I love getting my hands on buffets.  They can be used for so many things.  You can use it to place your TV on, you can us it for its intended purpose which is in the dining room or you can use it in almost any room in your house.

There was nothing cosmetically wrong with this buffet except for the fact that it was dated and tired.
It sat in my garage for quite a while.  I just couldn't find the inspiration needed for it.

The Evolution of the Fireplace

It's raining here in my neck of the woods and it's supposed to continue to do so for a while.  It gives me the decorating blues!  I need some sunshine!!  So what are we going to do? Head to SoCal!!

The boys are already in Arizona for baseball where it's in the 80's!!  Dreamy!

On Monday I shared on the blog how the space between my kitchen and family room has changed in the last few years.  If you missed it, you can read all about it here.

I've really enjoyed looking back at the ways the different spaces in my home have evolved in the last four years.  There is still so much work to do but sometimes it's good to take a step back and look at the progress we've made so far.  Today we're going to look at the evolution of my fireplace in the family room.

Rome wasn't built in a day

If I were to give you my best design advice it would be, Rome wasn't built in a day!
So many people think that their house has to be perfect right now!  It doesn't!  It takes time not only to figure out your style but to implement it also.

I love a home that has a story to tell.  The living room has Nana's hutch where all of the blankets are stored.  The kitchen is filled with all of the beautiful white ironstone that you've collected over time.  The guest bedroom has your favorite quilt draped over the bed that your best friend made you....

The "Vintage" Hutch

Remember that one time I said I had the blues?
No?  Well, you can read all about it in this post!

Today I'm going to share the transformation of this cabinet/hutch that I'm calling Vintage.  The paint color I used on it is called Vintage...so there you go!

Friday Favorites ~ I've got the Blues!

Maybe because it's raining over here in my neck of the woods...
Not sure the reason why, but I've got the painting blues!

As in, I want to paint everything blue!!!  I have a few pieces in my garage that I'm working on and they are all getting a different hue of blue.  Stay tuned...

In the meantime I wanted to share some of my favorite blue inspiration!

Gray/White-Washed Dresser that had me Smitten

It's the end of February!!  How did that happen?
I've been painting and painting and painting...

I have a new finished piece to share with you today!!

But first...Someone recently asked me why I love painting and revamping furniture.  You might be wondering the same thing, so I thought I would share my answer with you.

Painted Pieces that didn't make the blog

Oh happy day y'all!

I'm a happy girl today.  I had a really good month at the Co-Op in January.  I worked my little tush off and it payed off.  I'm extremely grateful that my customers are loving my work!

Here are a couple of pieces that I transformed last month.

Enjoy!

Soft and Neutral Valentine's Day Home Tour ~ 2018

The Valentine's Day decor in my home is very minimal.
I just like to add a few touches of "love" in some of my favorite vignettes.

After Christmas and all the beautiful reds I start to crave a softer and more neutral pallet for my V-day decor.  My home's color palette is neutral with hints of blues and greens.  This year I'm adding a soft pink to my V-day color palette.

I don't think I've ever shared a picture of our front door on the blog before!  Here is our blue front door!  When we purchased this home the door was already painted this fun blue.  I found this wreath and door hanger at TJMaxx.  I love how the pink and white wreath pop against the blue door.

The wreath doesn't scream V-day, in fact, it doesn't even whisper V-day but the soft pink palette sets the tone for what you will find when you step inside!

Come on in!!!

What's in your hands? ~ January Recap

I started this year with one resolution. Well, actually I have two goals this year...

1 - That I would get completely out of debt.
2 - Abs (As in I want them!) But we'll leave that second goal for a different blog post.

Side Table in Duck Egg

I've been painting like CRAZY!!

2018 is going to be the year where I pay off a lot of bills and get a handle on my finances.  Being a vendor at the Co-Op is my ticket to getting that done!

Today I'm going to be sharing this little side table that has been sitting in my garage for at least 6 months.  I was finally inspired to give it a little makeover.

Here she is before:

Friday Favorites ~ Photobooth Backdrop

My baby girl is 17 today!!!

I'm not sure when this....

Turned into this!

It's as if I blinked and now she's making College plans.  :(

In honor of her birthday I thought I'd share some beautiful Photo booth backdrops.

I'm loving this romantic setting.  Perfect for a wedding, baby shower or elegant birthday party.

I'm loving an easy backdrop!  All you need is some fabric and ornaments.  Perfect for a holiday party.

Couldn't find the source for this picture.  I just love how simple it is.  Not to mention budget friendly.

I'm in love with this one!  Gorgeous!!
(Source Unknown)

Perfect for the book lover in your life!

Um, Yes please!!!
How fun is that???

I currently have 3 doors in my garage!  I just need that chandelier, some flowers and we're in business!
Love it!
(no source available)

I'm a sucker for reclaimed wood.  Pretty much had me at hello!
Swoon!

Gotta throw a pallet backdrop in there.  This can be made for just about any occasion.  Love the versatility of it.

So I'm ending this post on a big note!  Like literally a "big note!"  :)
Simply stunning my darling!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a blessed day.

P.S.     Happy birthday my beautiful Karissa Faith!  Thank you for turning my life into color!  I love you to the moon and back.

2017 Top 10 Blog Posts

Happy New Year!!!

I know....
I'm a little late to the party!  :)

I've had a blast blogging this past year and I just want to thank you for taking the time to stop by and see what is happening in my neck of the woods.

Like I've said before, the best way to stay in the know is to subscribe to my blog...
You can do that by clicking on this window on the right hand side of the blog:

I promise not to bug you or send you junk email!!  You'll just get notified when there is a new post on the blog.

Alright.... drum roll please!!

Without further ado, here are the top 10 blog posts of 2017.  (BTW, this is determined by how many page views each post received!)

10. Beach Waves Dresser
This was literally a curb side find. Thank you Carina for snatching it for me!!  I had fun transforming it.  It didn't last long in my booth.

7. Friday Favorites ~ Prom
This post received a lot of attention!  I was even emailed by a vendor who asked to advertise on my blog because of this post.  As you can see on my blog I don't do the whole "advertising thing."  That's how most blogs generate income but I'm not ready to go down that road.  This blog is my hobby...
for now!  Anyway this was a fun post to create!

6. Friday Favorites ~ Spring Mantles
Spring is one of my favorite seasons.  This post is filled with pretty pictures that make me excited to start thinking about Spring again!  Can we just be done with Winter already???

My mantle is one of my favorite places to decorate every season.  I love that it made it to the top 5 of 2017!

3. The Sleep Room
I had the privilege of transforming a few rooms in 2017 for friends/clients!  That was a new thing for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it!  Two of the rooms I transformed made it into the top 5 posts of 2018!  That's exciting!  I have a few more spaces to share with you this year that I didn't get a chance to post last year.  I can't wait for you to see them.

2. Jaden's Room Facelift
This post was another room I was able to add my touch to.  It's my niece's room so that made it extra special!  This post not only made it to the number 2 spot for 2017 but it's also in the number 2 spot for my all-time most viewed posts on the blog!

And the MOST VIEWED POST OF not just 2017 but of
ALL TIME on my blog is....

Have a blessed day.
