Painted Folding Table with Vaseline resist

Good morning!!
I hope you had a wonderful Veteran's day yesterday. I'm grateful for this country I get to live in and for all the freedoms that so many brave men and women have fought for.

I had the day off so I spent most of it running around with my kids but I did manage to squeeze in a little time to finish this folding table I've been working on.

I had never tried the Vaseline resist technique and thought this little folding table would be the perfect project to try it on.

Here's the "before."

I found this little guy at a local co op.  The price was good and I had been looking for a little side table to sit next to the bench on my porch.  I also loved that it folds up for easy storage.

If you're not familiar with the Vaseline technique, it's where you paint your piece in one color
In this case I chose red...

And then you apply Vaseline to a few areas where you want the red to come through after you've painted the piece in a different color.

The spots where you've applied the Vaseline resist the next coat of paint.  After you're done painting your piece in it's final color and once it's dry you then lightly sand and the red will come through wherever you applied the Vaseline.

I love how it turned out and would definitely try this technique again!

Here it is all pretty and put together just ready for Fall!

Have you ever tried the Vaseline technique?  If so, what were your thoughts?

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a blessed day.

xoxo
