Friday Favorites ~ Prom 2017

Happy Friday!!!!

I haven't posted a Friday Favorites in a while but my daughter and I went Junior Prom dress shopping last weekend and I wanted to share some of my favorite prom dresses that are trending right now.

First of all, prom dresses have come a loooooong way since I was in high school!
These dresses are now full out gowns!
Gorgeous with the hefty price tags to match!

She really loves Sherri Hill so I'll start with a few of my favorites from this year's collection.
These dresses can all be found here.

The next few dresses are from a line called Jovani and can be found here.

Here are some from La Femme however these aren't from their 2017 collection.  Those haven't been released yet.

These are from Lucci Lu

These last ones are from Milano's Spring 2017 collection!

The Junior Prom Karissa is going to is in April...
I promise to post pictures of the big day and reveal the dress she said YES to!  ;)

I'd also like to give a special thanks to Crystal at J James Bridal in Brentwood.  She was such a joy to work with.  I can't imagine shopping anywhere else for Karissa's future prom dresses.

Thank you for stopping by!
xoxo

Jaden's Room Facelift

My Client:
So I have a beautiful 16 year old niece.  Her name is Jaden.

The Space:
Jaden was wanting to update her bedroom.
She and her mom painted her room and ordered a few things for the space and then called me in to help.
They gave me a budget and Jaden told me the vision for her room.

Neutral Valentines Day Decor

Happy V-day!!!
I hope you are out doing something you love with the ones you love!!

I love decorating for all of the holidays and seasons. It's fun to look at old photographs and see how drastically my decorations have changed over the years.
I used to think that Valentines day meant everything had to be red and pink.

Best of 2016 and My Favorite Post

It's the last Friday of 2016.
To say that this year has flown by is an understatement.

I feel like I've grown immensely in 2016.  I've learned to say no.  I've owned my time.  Do you know what I mean?
This blog for example...I haven't let it consume me.
As I've mentioned before, I love having this blog but it's just for fun.  :)

You know what else is fun?
Looking back at 2016.

Fireplace Makeover

Welcome back to my blog.  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
Thank you for all of your sweet comments regarding my Christmas Home Tour.
If you missed it, you can check it out here.

In the Home Tour I included photos of my newly renovated fireplace.

Today I'm sharing a little more about that transformation.
It was a labor of love but so worth it!

2016 Christmas Tour

Hello friends!!!
I've been a little MIA but all for good reasons!
I've been enjoying some much needed quality time with friends and family.

We've hosted a few parties over here at the Gillio pad and well, I just haven't been in the mood to blog.

This whole blog thing is a hobby for me and although I LOVE it, I don't ever want it to feel like a chore!

I had a few requests to share my home on the blog, so without further ado.....
here is our home all decked out for Christmas!!!

Happy Thanksgiving ~ Let's Make a Difference

A few years ago a man approached me and told me about an incident that happened when he was a little boy.  His house had caught fire around the holidays and there was so much damage done that, with all of the financial burden added to his family, there wasn't going to be any way they were going to afford anything for Christmas.

He paused and said, "I don't know if you remember this but you and the company that you worked for adopted my family that Christmas."

To be honest I had forgotten all about that incident.  It had happened over 20 years ago.  I do remember that my work was looking for a family to adopt for the Christmas season and I had heard about the fire and thought they would be a good candidate.

This man went on to tell me what an impact that small gesture had on his life.  He said he made a promise that when he was old enough he would pay it forward.  He wanted me to know that he had made good on his promise and that he and his children look for a family every Christmas to bless.

I had to fight back the tears while he was talking.  I was so honored to be the instrument that God used to bless an entire family's life.

Recently a friend shared the above commercial with me and it just moved me.  It reminded me of the fire incident.
It reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas...
I've gotten so wrapped up in decorating and shopping and well, that's not really what it's all about is it?

We're adopting a family, not because of this story, but because it's just what we do during the holidays.  We're blessed and we want to be a blessing.

Today I'm not sharing pictures of pretty things...those will be on the blog soon enough.
Today I'm hoping to inspire you to go out and make a difference in someones life.
Maybe it's not in your budget to adopt a family, so how about giving an encouraging word to someone, carry someones groceries for them, bake cookies and take them to your local fire station or police department, or just simply take the time to smile and spark up a conversation with someone.

Some of the things this commercial says are:

I did
because you gave.

I created
because you saw me as an artist.

I found Christ
because I saw him reflected in you...

This holiday season I'm inspired to make a difference.
Will you join me?

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.
